Resource for bike fits
Does anybody have any good resources that I could share with a non-EN friend on bike fitting. Of course I could go directly to Google (which I will do as soon as I finish this post) but I figured I'd also call on the collective intellect of this group as well to see what you actually think is useful. I have a pretty good feel for how to fit someone on a bike, but it's little more art for me than science. I kind of just know it when I see it. I'm looking to give him some actual resources to read up on, so any:
- good books (that you actually like)
- good websites
- any other resources
This guy is Jess' chiropractor and a friend of mine. I helped him buy his P2 and I built it and then fit him on it. He and the PT that he works with treat a lot of patients that have back/hip/joint issues that may be related to their positions on their bikes and he simply wants to learn more about it. I'm interested in learning more as well, but mostly because I'm just a nerd about anything bike.

DC rainmaker has a review on Bike Fit Fast app on this blog.
Ubersense app.
I use both in combination with the EN/TT bike fit instructive manual.
Both apps are easy to use, and will get you in the ball park as well as serve as a baseline visual starting point, or "reset" if mutliple tweaks become muddled.
Just post the pics here and I'll tell them what to fix.
And it is very easy to do, even from here in Australia!
Thanks all. I may not have been completely clear on my original post. His bike fit is fine (since I personally did his fit... ) He's trying to learn more about what makes a good bike fit, etc. For instance if someones hips are moving from side to side as they pedal, then their seat is likely too high. Or is someone is having medial knee pain, what does that likely mean about their fit. etc. When Bob McCallum looks at someone's bike fit in the "critique my bike fit" thread, he just "knows" what is wrong. This guy is trying to learn some of the science behind how to "know" what looks right. Or if one of his patients presents with an injury or discomfort, could some incorrect bike fit be a potential aggravator leading to the issue, etc. He's simply trying to "learn" about bike fitting and potential problems from incorrect fits. Thanks again. --JW
On Monday I can send you a great article on bike fitting, that I personally turn to often when I need to do some tweaking or when i want to refresh my mind. I don't have access to it from home, but will when I get back to work on Monday.
