FUN FACT
It’s winter. Let’s talk about treadmills. Treadmills are an invention developed a couple thousand years ago and were primarily meant for working animals to create power for things like churning butter, grinding grain, or mixing large amounts of bread dough. The first treadmills for humans were built in the early 1800s when Sir William Cubitt thought maybe prisoners could be doing something more useful with their time. Your non-prison-issue treadmills didn’t come out until the early 50s, and were just used for medical purposes, like testing patients for their pulmonary health. Your exercise treadmill at the gym? Not until the late 60s. Why the heck can’t they still make some butter or knead some bread?

I have always suspected that the treadmill was originally a torture device from the dark ages!
