ideas to improve EN web site

On "my training plan" page: Add a "metric option"

-Add the possibility to import your weekly training to "calendar" or google agenda

- Add "last FTP test" and "last 5k test" results so u know where u are (or were)

-Add a "my season road map" page (with the same video and sheet that Rich sends us)

  • Now with all the GROUPS it is hard to tell on the DASH where the comments came from. Any chance these can be labeled from whence they came?
  • Under Forums, Not Read would it be possible to include a flag to include Micro and Macro Thread posts or not respectively. As I understand these posts are mainly for coaches to answer and seems half of each page is a Micro or Macro post. Just a thought to make things a little easier.

    Kevin,

The rightmost column of the Not Read view indicates in what forum the thread is posted. Not sure if this helps you...

  • I'm sure that this point has already been discussed.  Apologies if it is repetitive.

Main feature add for me would be training plan integration with Training Peaks, and utilize TP training log, instead of Excel Spreadsheet.  I would be willing to pay an additional monthly amount to EN, if training plans were integrated in TP.

    Why would I want this?

I use Training Peaks and Garmin Connect already.  Training peaks for planning, post-workout upload, and analysis.  Many, if not most triathletes are already using TP today.  Garmin I use for post-workout upload from 810 & 910. Garmin upload is really working well with Express now, and Connect is a great tool to capture all of your training metric data.   I use a web software called Tapiirik to sync data from Garmin Connect to Training Peaks without repetitive data re-entry.  I think that the cost was $2 per year for Tapiirik.

On one hand, I like that I have to login to EN daily to check my workout.  I read the forums while I'm there, and there is something about the daily ritual of checking EN that keeps me focused on my overall Triathlon goal, and I love the connection to the team.  But I don't think that would change one bit with TP integration.

On the other hand, I really don't like having to manually recreate my daily workout schedule in Training Peaks while flipping back-and-forth between EN and TP, and then manually creating the workout in TP.  TP is a fantastic tool for analyzing power data and comparing performance on courses and routes.  Their coaching plans are in no way a replacement for anything EN nor do you get all of the social aspect and tremendous knowledge of Team EN members.  Just using it as a data tracker and analysis tool ONLY.  But as a calendar planner and data tracker, its pretty darn good.

Otherwise, the EN site is fairly easy to navigate, and the full site loads well from my mobile tablet and iphone devices.  While gut reaction today is to ask for a mobile specific app or mobile optimization -- EN site already does that fairly well with the full website.

So my primary suggestion is TP training plan load.

  • Hi Marc,

About 18-24mo ago we were offering our training plans to the members on TP for an additional fee. There are administrative costs to us maintaining our plans on TP and some other factors involved there. The number of EN internal plans purchased by the members for use on TP.com was exactly zero.

We've offered our plans for sale externally, to non members, in both .pdf and TP.com form. Sales were probably 98/1 .pdf vs TP.com.

On our end, the members and the market have spoken on this issue. More importantly, I really can't understate the actual complicated-ness and cost of something that seems relatively simple to do from the users perspective. I'd ask you to reflect on what you're paying for EN, what you're getting in the way of support and resources, and consider what can and can't be done, technology-wise, within that cost and value framework.

  • Sounds like you tried integration in the past for members and it wasn't worthwhile for you or the team.

Thanks for answering my question. Appreciate it as always.

For me the real value is the insight provided by you, coach Patrick and the EN Team. That is what will make a difference on race day.

The geek in me still loves to see the workout recorded and uploaded. Kind of like a bank deposit. I'll keep using Garmin to capture and TP to record and analyze.

Neither replaces anything from EN nor diminishes the daily visit.

Thanks for understanding. At the end of they day, PnI need to focus on providing what you're paying us for -- coaching and support. It would be very easy to fall down a never ending rabbit hole of chasing technology. Instead, Patrick is on the road right now to run a training camp for the members and I'll be in St George this weekend for the race...as I will be at 3-4 other races this year, Patrick as well.

  • There are some major typos in the IM revenge page that make parts unreadable:

    http://members.endurancenation.us/Resources/Wiki/tabid/91/Default.aspx?topic=Official+Ironman+Revenge+Protocol+(or+Two+IM+Seaso

For example, here is a sentence:  "All right athletes of things on one."  I am sure there was some cut and paste edit errors....anyway I'd like to read that section and it's very tough to follow some of the sections.

  • Fixed! I think I was dictating that after my crash, so I was totally on painkillers!!!!

    Thanks....
