Recovery Pump Boots - what's your opinion?

I had a demo with the Recovery Pump Boot system before IM Lake Tahoe. It felt great and relaxing. I'm a skeptic until I see lots of data and testimonials from the field. As a master athlete I need to consider all methods avaiable that  allows me to train consistently.

What are your thoughts? Have you used them?

  • I have the Normatec boots which look very similar. I love them. But I only really use them after long bikes or runs in the meat of IM training. I also use them immediately after all big races. They seem particularly useful for me for a camp or similar where I am doing 3-4 big days in a row.

I "think" they help my legs recover, but I have no hard data to say whether or not they actually work. I guess the same could be said for massage or seeing my chiropractor. I'm not 100% convinced either of those actually do anything, but I'm still not willing to give them up.
  • X2, I also have and love my Normatec Boots!!
  • just an fyi: if you're looking into these systems, unless you're buying the normatech, you can often buy the medical version of these devices used very cheap. I've got the sportpump product, which is the bio compression system, the recovery pump that you are looking at is the Lympha Press Petite Basic System. I'll agree with JW that they seem to help with recovery, but can not say so definitively.
  • I agree with the above. Am a Normatec owner.
  • Steve - you bring up some great tips - buy the original medical device for less money. The SportPump is a lot cheaper. Normatech looks like the first kid on the block for appealing to Pros - see their website with Chrissie and Craig Alexander.
