the short, short version is that Mark is a former Ironman / Marathon pro 20 years ago, who has built the company behind Damage Master Formula (you might have seen ads in a tri mag).
He writes a blog on thoughts of overall health. Basic premises are
-endurance sports are not particularly healthy. cause a lot of damage. if you want to do them, you have to recognize the toll you're putting on your body, and eat accordingly
-healthy food = food your primal ancestors would have eaten (with certain corollaries, exceptions, etc). Not unlike Paleo, but less absolute, more recognition that there's actually stuff out there we don't yet know.
-overall healthy activity = walking a lot, occassionally running for your life (ie. a few short sprints from time to time), lifting weights, and eating well.
