  • Hi! I am a new EN member and hopefully not the only one racing Cozumel! image I can't believe its 5 months away! Super excited! My goal for Cozumel is to finish! I'm slow, it's my first Ironman, so I'm just hoping to enjoy the experience and achieve a dream. I picked Cozumel for the clear water and flat course. My bike training options are mostly all flat, so I wanted to stick with what I know. And where prettier to race 140.6? image My family is all coming to support me and enjoy some vacation time. I'm looking forward to hearing from others going to Cozumel!
  • Hi all!  My name is Jenny and I'll be racing Cozumel this year. I live and train in Southern California and have 4 furry kids along with a supportive husband. It will be my second time in Cozumel, the first time in 2012. In 2012, EN prepared me for the race perfectly. I felt great, even with the heat, humidity, and wind. When I decided to do another Ironman, I thought it best to join once again. My goal this year is to get faster and stronger overall, and to beat my last time of 14:41. I have a lot of work to do before the race, but I'm really looking forward to it. Can't wait to meet everyone.

  • Hello Guys! I'm Marcelo, from Mexico, I'm new in the team, just a couple of weeks ago; last year I did the Half Ironman in Cozumel, and this year I'm heading to the full thing. You will be swimming in on of the best places to swim in the world; before the start there's a dolphin show to say hi to all the athletes. The entire town is cheering all day long, I thing they're ironman too. The bike is amazing, you start in the jungle and then it changes to the crystal beach view, awesome! just be careful with the wind and the heat!

Well I can help you with questions about cozumel, how to get there, what to do and not to do, and I hope I can help you!

    Adios Amigos!

  • Hi everyone!

My name is Meredith and my husband and I (along with our two dogs) are training for IM Cozumel.  This is the first IM for both of us and we're really excited.  We're from Colorado Springs, CO and hope our high-altitude training counteracts the heat and humidity.  I look forward to chatting with you all about the race!

  • Paul here. I did it the past 2 years and would be glad to answer any questions you have.

Marcelo - no dolphin show for athletes anymore. When they moved the swim north last year for the full, that ended that. Maybe they still do it for the families, but the athletes can't see it. You set up your bike and now catch the bus to the start and swim back south on the coast.
  • Hey all. IMCoz will either be my 6th or 7th IM (all with EN). I'm doing IMMT in 1.5 weeks and if all the stars happen to align, I hope to be doing a little race in October as a RR for COZ.

I'm doing IMCoz as part of the IMXC program to end my "Year of Massive training". My wife and kids have had enough with this insanity so who knows what it'll look like going forward after this yr... So I figured I'd end the yr with a bang and signed up for COZ... Can't wait to meet you all!
  • Yes Paul, we are going to miss the dolphin show (amazing show), but the good news with the change is that we will have a better and faster swim course, so we can set PR's!!

Remember the heat and huimidity are sons of b... try to train with a lot in the heat.

    See you there!!

  • Hi there - I am nearly committed to IMCoz - working out logistics now. I also just finished IMMT (great venue!) and am looking to extend training into the fall. I live in MI - so a trip to Cozumel will be welcome in November. I did IM Los Cabos earlier this year and loved the energy; excited at the chance to do another IM in Mexico!
  • Where is everyone staying? I went to the event sheet to see who was signed up / where they were staying and noticed that it was blank... EN Event Sheet Link

  • I'm in - just registered!
  • Thanks for the link to the event sheet Rich! I just put in my details. I'm staying at the Cozumel Palace. It's not a host hotel -- I'm hoping that doesn't make things more difficult race morning, etc.
  • That is where I wanted to stay Jennifer - lots of recommendations on ST for it - but it was sold out one of the nights so I ended up at Park Royal. I think that Cozumel Palace will be more convenient at the finish.

Just now trying to get back on a training schedule after IMMT... my focus is wandering :-)
  • Hello guys:

Last year I stayed in "El cozumeleño" it's a great place to stay, also a host hotel; the food is great, and you could have the transportation to T1, It's a little far from there but the taxi fee will be like 10 usd.

  • Hey everyone - come on over to the weekly training thread and let us know how your training is going!
  • Hi -- We're staying at the Intercontinental…only because it looked like it would be close to the swim start (and there isn't the all-inclusive temptation)
  • Great to have you Meredith!
My wife and I will be at the Intercon also, till our kids get us kicked out....
  • Hola,
This is going to be my first IM, I have done 4 HIM, so I hope to have a good race.

I am from Barranquilla, Colombia, I do not know anyone from EN in person, I hope to meet some of you in Cozumel. I can also be the official translator.
  • I know that the bike has a 3 loops of 60K, how many kms are with front wind?
  • Tito - last year the headwind was worst between punto sur and Mezcalitos. And it picked up as the day went on.
  • How many kms is that?
