  • Hello Team EN. I will be racing this course for the second year in a row. I have several family members (6) who will be making this their first 70.3 race. I live in Baton Rouge, am a father of 2 and work a full time job. As such most of my training days start with a 3 as the first digit on the clock. I really enjoyed this course last time and look forward to racing it again.
  • Hi folks, I live in the Chicago atea so this will be a tough race with mostly indoor training. The reason why I picked NOLA HIM is because my daughter was at LSU until last December. So I am tying a bit of vacation with my wife, and a visit to my daughter. Looking forward to racing in warmer weather. I have avson who lives in Manhattan, NY, and another son in Chicago. I work as a sales manager for a global insurance company. Looking forward to meeting the EN NOLA team.
  • As a perk of living in the area, I've gotten to do IMNO each year since its been here. I'm coming off a foot injury so I'm a little behind in training.  Not sure how the run will go for me.  I've only been running since the end of December and I'm only up to 3 miles for a single run.  I'm also new to EN so I'm just getting the hang of it and I just started the HIM plan today.  Good luck everyone!

PS: I'm also doing the 5150 here March 30th.

  • Hope everyone's training is going well.  Just wanted to share a link where you can track the temperature of Lake Pontchartrain.

    http://www.saveourlake.org/weekly-report.php

This is updated about weekly and provides water quality and temperature reports.  The closest testing site is #4-Pontchartrain Beach.  Looks like it will be COLD.

  • Thanks for the link! Sorry to hear about your foot. Do what's right for the long term.
  • How salty is Lake Ponchartrain? I am not sure how to interpret a 2.8 salinity? Is that brackish or like the ocean?
  • The lake is brackish.  Sometimes you taste the salt during a drought, but with the rain we've been getting it should feel like fresh water.

  • @Ethan, thanks, I was hoping for a lot of buoyancy image
  • Plenty of buoyancy in your wetsuit at least!

  • One thing that caught me off guard on the swim was how it started. You jump off a pier one at a time. When you hit the water you have to start swimming immediately because someone is coming in right after you. I was used to more time to get acclimated to the water temperature.
  • That is interesting, I read about the time trial start, I have never done that. I am in the 55-59 group, we are in wave 14. In Racine our group started right after the pro's so that will be different. I wish I could estimate when our wave hits the water.
