  • Excited to be handing the EN peeps their bike gear bags! Whoo hoooo!

Hi peeps...the Hampton Inn DT is booked for race weekend. I am planning on volunteering with some friends and need a couple rooms. Any advice for other lodging that is convenient to the race site? Never been to Choo Choo...looks like all the losing on Chestnut is booked as well.

Any and all info is appreciated! Looking forward to cheering you all on!
The race and chamber of commerce have everything blocked out for race week.  You need to book through the official race lodging website but still, everything downtown is currently booked.  I expect things to open up some very close to race week as people that aren't going to make it cancel out.

  • We booked at the Marriott. We were told it was close to everything.
  • In and also booked at the Marriott.
  • I am planning on signing up for the camp. Was there someone looking to share a hotel room? I would be wills to split a room.

    Thanks Greg
  • @Rich, have you decided which hotel for the camp?

@Greg, scroll down to Jan 31, the person who wants to share a room is named Joel.

Hey Greg - I have rooms reserved at both the Hampton Inn and Double Tree.  Rich was looking into something with larger meeting space so I grabbed the Double Tree as an alternate option.  They are both $95/night for 2 queen beds and I'm happy to share the room.
  • Re: the camp's hotel.

I know for a fact that Rich is working on getting us a package deal. He advised me to hold off on booking anything until he gets this done so we can save some $. He's working on the Doubletree (I've stayed there, very nice) but not a done deal, yet.

  • Coach Rich or Chris-

Any word on which Hotel yet for the camp?? Trying to get travel stuff in order and time off work for the camp. This one is a road trip for a few of us from Iowa.

    Thanks

Chris could you throw the # in for Double Tree or tell me is it in the town of Chatt??
  • I assume it's the Downtown Doubletree they are looking into.
  • Doubletree, downtown. Standby, as I'm working negotiations with them for camp venue, camp rooms, race weekend dinner, 4k talk venue for '14 and TeamEN host hotel for '15 (camp + 4k talk + EN block of rooms, etc)

  • Sounds great!! Thanks!!

Sorry I missed this, Carl.  I've been real spotty with checking in lately.  I'm sure you've already found it with Rich's notes.  If not, it is in Chattanooga.  Within a couple of blocks of where transition will be, maybe a mile (at most) walk away.  I stay there when I do their June Oly.

  • Chatt peeps, Coach Rich just sent an email about rooms at the Doubletree. Just made my reservation.
  • If you happen to be military or civil service you can get a room there for $95.

  • Just in this thread and have been totally, I mean totally outta it . I got remarried , got stepchildren , moved outta state, still  remodeling and basically thought nothing of exercising ,  I  might be able to pull of this (10th) Ironman with y'alls help!

Can somebody please give me a quick skinny?

    1.  What is this camp you are referring to?  when is it, etc..

    2.  What exactly are y'all doing right now?!!

  • way cool on Youtube, doesn't look like 4-5k ft of climbing....nor do I see anything spectacular.  ....m
  • Thanks for the video! Can't wait to ride the course. I will be in chatty from July 14-21 riding, running, and swimming. Can't wait and will again return for the EN Camp. Looking forward to meeting you all and training on this beautiful course!!!!!!
  • Hi.  I'm a brand to member to EN so still finding my way around.  IMChoo will be my 3rd IM.  Training so far has been a struggle...injuries and weight gain.  But, not ready to give up yet!
  • Welcome Beth! Just ask if you have any questions, EN is full of awesome and helpful people! As for the training, realize we are still 6months out- plenty of time to turn that around! And we won't let you give up! Reach out for any and all support you might need!
  • Hi Guys! I'll be doing The Choo, God willing, with y'all. This will be my 3rd IM, second with EN. I live in Alpharetta, GA and am signed up to attend Camp. I'm hoping to get up there to ride/run the course before then as well.
  • Anyone interested in splitting a room for the camp? I have a 2 Queen room for $95/night on govt. employee discount.
  • Another one in for chattanooga. I have done IM louisville and IM Canada (2x). The races were great but my performance was poor. I was following my same old plan and figured I would get the same old results - so I joined EN and I am hoping to ramp things up this coming year!
  • Amy, I live in Valdosta and would love to meet for a ride/century or just training in some hills.. Fellow Valdostan and new ENer Kathi Blais is doing IM CHoo with us as well.
  • @Joel - Room is at the DoubleTree?  if it is and the offer is still open, I'll take ya up on that. I won't be arriving until early Friday morning, will be ready to ride, prob won't unpack until after the ride.

  • For sure Chris - you've got it.
  • Signing in for IM Choo in September! This will be my 3rd IM, I did IM Lou in '12 and IM CDA in '13. I have been hearing that the bike is not as bad as rumored, but the run is hilly. We plan on flying down on Friday and staying just outside of the city at the Days Inn.
  • Ray,  I just ran one loop of the run course over this past weekend and although there are "some" hills, I think the flats can make up for it.  It will be a mental game during the 2nd loop as the hills are during the last 5 miles of each loop, then on to the finish line.  We are in the same city and same AG but I am reaching for 12 or better.  Wait for me at the finish line?
