Swim fitness without swimming?

I know we're not supposed to be adding in swimming but... So, my question is about my arm's tolerance for the repetitive motion. My form is always something I need to improve but I also need to develop some endurance besides the arm and shoulder strength. Any suggestions? Is a routine like the threshold stuff we do for riding and running, just out of the pool. I already do the bike inner tube stuff but that isn't measurable other than the number of pulls.

  • my n=1… i like to include some rowing erg workouts during the week to keep some muscle memory. as a side benefit, the rowing motion uses my legs n glutes in a way that seems to help with my strength imbalances if i only run or bike. 20-30 min does the trick. otherwise, weight assisted pull-ups?
  • Well, I guess you could buy a Vasa trainer, it would give you the measurements you are seeking, but that's a pretty pricey option.
  • I have a VASA YUCK! And I live on the trainer and treadmill. Absolutely hate it. Nothing like in the water.   There are a lot of tube exercises you can do if you look on You tube. Some of them really seem to help me form a shoulder surgery recovery standpoint
