David King's training

Race schedule: Boston Marathon, IMTX, IMMT, Adirondack Marathon

Last Race: NYC Marathon (3:11)

Current training: M, W, F: treadmill run, 8 miles, 6:20/mi pace, followed by core workout (back, abd, shoulders).  T, Th: bike trainer, 1 hour, high turnover (previously used to bike at 70 RPM, now biking at 85 RPM since Christmas)...just got new Powerbeam Pro for Christmas...still learning how to use it.  Sat/Sun: either long run (13-15 miles at 6:50 pace) or 2-3 hour bike trainer session...then take the other day off.  I get swims in during the day when convenient as a "second" workout, but that is very variable (sometimes once per week or once every other week).  My swim workouts are usually very simple: 2500 meters as fast as I can in order to get back to work.  As a race gets closer, I generally increase my swim volume and frequency.

That's the deal.  Thanks for talking today.

  • @David great to chat! Coach Rich will have you on a schedule, but for me I am not worried about swimming right now unless it just happens to be a really easy / convenient work-related workout that you can squeeze in.

If you haven't already, I would load up the IM plan to end on IM TX, then we can talk about modifying it per your above -- for example, we do two long rides on Sat/ Sun...long run on Thurs...if your long run must be on the weekend, then we need to adjust, etc...let me know when you have that plan in your account and what you think your basic modifications would be.

    Mon - Swim and Run
    Tues - Run Intervals
    Wed - Bike Intervals
    Thu - Long Run
    Fri - Swim and Run
Sat - Run, then Long Bike
    Sun - Tempo Bike
