Crit strategy.
The November OS is over and tomorrow I was going to either, a. do a final ft test on the indoor trainer or, b. go outside in the 70 degrees and sunny and ride in the first local crit of the season. What to do, what to do...?
So of course I consulted with Dan Socie (the man who puts the Bro in embrocation). I asked him about strategy. How should I pace it? Sit back? Attack? Try to work with others, etc., I didn't get much feedback there, but he did ask me about my kit- the color, does it match my bike, how high are my socks? Black or white? Shoe color? Stuff like that. I appreciated the fashion advice but still I was uncertain about the actual racing.
So I asked Dave Halligan.
Dave, you''ll be riding road races again this year. How would you play this as it's an early season race?
"Unleash hell on them."
Anything else?
"No. "
Really?
"Ok. Just before the start, find the skinniest guy there and spit on him. "
I then asked RnP and after some deliberation they said that according to my plan I had an ft test scheduled.
I think I'm racing.

Chris,
Just don't do what I did in my first crit, which was jump out front and pull the entire field then get pissed off at the 7 guys that outsprint you. .
I was just talking to a local riding partner about doing a crit on Sunday. We'll have to compare notes.
Good luck and have fun.
Can't wait for the first Team Fred Velo Race Report.
Dave
Fred Velo needs to wake up.
Still riding outside tomorrow.
"Unreal. Invest in American cycling. It's going crazy."
No joke. Soigneur is sponsoring a race this week with 65 miles of gravel road on some of the most difficult back road terrain in the area. There will be nearly 600 people lining up on Saturday, and it's going to be in the 20's to start. Hurray!
Tall socks, white is preferred.
Whenever you get a chance to race whatever you do don't do any work. I know, I know the EN moto is to work. But really, no work. Sit 3-5 guys back from the front the entire race - again do nothing but sit on anyone doing work. Then half way to the last turn bury yourself off the front. No one will come around you.
