Training peaks device agent problem

Occasionally when I transfer my data from my garmin to wok+ via the device agent the file doesn't show up after a successful data transfer. Anyone else have this problem and know where the data goes? I'd like to be able to add today's data since it has my FTP test data!

  • I think there is a problem with TP today. I could not upload my workout either. I could not even log into "classic" today. I could log in to "beta" but could not upload the workout.
  • Are you sure that you have selected WKO+ on the left (in the little column that determines where the file goes)?  For example, mine is set to default to wko+. If I want to download it to training peaks too, then I select the ride/run again, and then change the second "save" to TP.  That's all I can think of....haven't had that problem (yet!).

  • I doesn't happen every time. Most of my data transfers without a hitch. I get the notice that the data transfer was successful but then when I go to the device agent it doesn't list the file. Is there a way to transfer the data from my garmin again. I know it's still on the garmin because I haven't deleted it yet but now it's not showing up to the computer as a new file so it doesn't transfer again.

    Frustrated!
  • Never seen that....hope I don't!  I would turn everything off and on and try it again!  Wow....I know...super-helpful.   But, my 310xt was not seeing my footpod or HR monitor today....tried everything on the 310xt and it just would not see it.  That never happens.  So, turned it off, waited 15 secs, turned it back on and.....whammo....working perfectly.

When I use a USB or the Garmin Ant agent stick thingy, I can stil see all my old workouts and could easily re-download any of them (have done it accidentally).  Are you saying it doesn't even show up when the computer queries the device?

I'm sure someone more computer savvy than me will chime in...

  • Check and see if you saved the data on your garmin first. If you are taking the data from your 910XT, it will be difficult to re-download. However, if it is from an edge where the download is done through a cable, you can download again. Contact Training peaks & Garmin through their support email. They are both very helpful. I have received better phone service from garmin rather than email.
  • Thanks.  I'll give those things a try.

  • @Tom Do you download to the GArmin site? If so you can get it there and save to computer and then manually upload to TP
  • Yeah, I have both a 910 and an 810. With the 810, it loads to my phone via bluetooth which loads to Garmin. Don't usually plug the 810 into the computer. That made me change the way I upload to WKO+. I now go to the garmin site and select my oldest workout that isn't yet in WKO+. There's an "export" link, click that and choose the TCX file option. That will download to your computer in your downloads directory. Then just click on the next button in Garmin and do the export again and keep repeating those steps until you are at your newest workout.

Then most browsers let you right click on the downloaded files at the bottom of the browser. Select the option for "show in folder" or something like that. That will open up a windows explorer window. Highlight all the files the date you did the exports on. Now open up the download agent for WKO+ and you can drag the highlighted files from the windows explorer window to the device agent window. Then just save them. If you want to also save to trainingpeaks online (or vice versa), then drag and drop them again into the device agent window and select the other place to save them to.

If you're missing a file should be able to just do the above for just that one workout.
