data transfer from 310xt?

Sorry for any repeats... "searched" and couldn't find my problem on previous forums...

When I first got my 310xt, my ant agent would pick it up anytime it came near my laptop and start transferring the data.  Now, I have to go onto the computer each time and click on "Pair with new device"- ENABLE (it is always in "disable" now) and also on my watch click "Pairing- Enabled" - "Yes" (it is always set to "No" right now).  How do  I get the enable/YES settings to remain the default so I don't have to manually turn it on?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • @Susan, glad you posted this. I have been having the same issue for the past month or so. Would like to see if anyone has a solution for this.

  • Latest firmware? These little gadgets we've become so dependent on frequently have issues, unfortunately.
  • Do you have Training Center installed? Are the settings set to download to both training center and gramin connect? If the answer to all of these is yes, and garmin training center is active, then that may be your problem - that was my problem. I found that if I close down garmin training center, plug in the ant stick, and turn on the 310, then it will download to garmin connect first, then start up training center and dowload to training center. If I have training center active, nothing happens.
  • Are you guys using trainer road. The ant agent wreaks havoc with TR so I think the TR software will disable it.
  • I have 2 ant sticks that I keep in my pc when using tr - 1 is garmin, the other is cycleops. I don't think this caused an issue, but obviously only one was working with trainer road. Why not just pull the ant stick out of the pc and see if this fixes the issue.
  • @ Ray--- I think this is the problem.  The only thing was that the other day I was sure I didn't hop on TR in between 2 uploads and I still had to re-pair and re-enable.  But maybe I did.  Was wondering if others had the problem, so it's good to know that someone else does. All my firmware is up to date, I am not on Training Center, etc.

I am not sure about the 2 ANT sticks thing- I wonder if I paired it to a different ANT stick (or paired my Garmin to a different ANT stick) that it would work all harmoniously?  I have an extra Garmin ANT stick somewhere.

  • @Susan I don't think is a pairing to ant stick the stick is just the stick. it is more the pairing to the ant agent. Way back when I got on TR I would have to pair all the time and I was cur song Garmin but it turned out to be TR over rising the agent. I don't use the same laptop for TR anymore either so I have never have the problem anymore. You can ask Alex at TR to verify. His email is

    Awesome guy and very responsive

  • @ Susan- a year or so ago I had the same problems with enableing and pairing. I tried everything I could think of and nothing seemed to work.

Eventually I got so frustrated I removed my device then re-added it [[[[DO NOT DO THAT]]]] it will delete all your user on the computer!!! I found out the hard way.

What finally worked was to un-install the ANT+ Agent and Garmin Communicator (no data is lost), reboot and re-install both. Since then I have had no problems with paring/enabling.

I have never liked the background download. There is no way to force the search or download like with the wired connection of the 305. Sometimes it seems to take upto 5 minutes before the ANT agent says 'hello'. OK, rant over.....
  • @Susan please let me know if it was TR I am very curious. thanks

@Ray-- sorry to take so long to get back to this.

Alex @ TR said it is indeed TR that will disable your ANT agent and thus you have to re-enable it every time.  Bummer for me, but not that big of a deal.

  • @Susan Thanks I thought so but didn't wanted to steer you wrong.I kid around with the guys at TR saying I want to come out of retirement and sell their product.

  • That would be fun!  It's such a great product!
