What Recovery Looks Like--A Great Indoor TT!

Hi all,

I wouldn't normally post a "race report" about the indoor TT, but given that I yammered on about being in such a rough place after the VO2 block, I wanted to share some good news. Looks like I have finally recovered. I had a GREAT TT yesterday. I did the ride feeling fantastic, strong, and relaxed the entire time. Seems I have scaled the walls of the black hole I was in, and have come out the other side.

Cliff Notes:

6.03 mles

206 watts

18:27

19.6 mph

That is a HUGE improvement over last year of at least 2 mph, and a HUGE watts bump. The work I did this winter obviously got me stronger and faster, so I proved to myself I can continue to improve. Going forward I can continue to make gains so long as I work hard as hell, yet be as rigorous in following my personal training index of when to keep pushing and when to back off. That "personal index" is as critical as any epic week or FT test.

It was a fantastically fun day with great EN teammates--and, for the first time in years, a little too much beer.

  • Yaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh Linda- way to go! You are an inspiration! Thanks for sharing your experiences, it helps more than you'll ever know.

Amazing results. ( especially after your crazy days leading up TT on Sat) you deserve it

  • Linda,

You must feel so triumphant! Congratulations on a fine effort and, even more important, making a hill out of a hole. Congratulations.

Big ups to linda who just crushed it. 206w is awesome.

  • JUST SMOKIN !!! So, so happy for you!

  • Couldn't be happier for ya, LP!! So pumped to see you on the comeback. Can't wait to see what else you do this year. image

  • Hooray, Linda! Way to rock the watts!

  • You rawked!!!! It was so much fun to be there and watch image. Those are some big watts sista!
  • Keep that up missy and you are gonna have to turn in your L'il Peep card! Congratulations, that's just awesome!
  •  Way to go Linda... It was awesome seeing you kick it and being there to cheer you on!

And that your "endurance" carried over to an extended Asgard session is equally impressive...

  • Awesome Job Linda! Way to keep your head up and come out of the hole even stronger!!!

You have set a great example that we can all learn from.
  • LP,

What's great about you is that no matter where you are in your fitness space, you always provide such balance and level headedness to our community.

I distinctly remember you suffering through last year's TT after a couple of back to back power hacks.  On Saturday, it was great to see you suffer, but much more powerfully this year.

More importantly, it was just plan great to see you and Keith again.  Great job!

  • Really encouraging to hear Linda!  It is good to see folks who worked hard all winter and felt fatiqued, come back and prove that the work we did paid off!!  I am looking forward to a similar ephinany in the weeks to come   Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks all! I did put the info up to share good news. I got so much help and encouragement here during my down cycle. It is SO HARD to learn to step away when you need to, and develop that "personal index" of how to make the right choices and self-coach within the parameters of these great training plans. I'd like to think one can do it without going over the abyss, but I'm not so sure. ALL we need is right here in EN, but do we always listen? I'd like to contribute to saving one person from learning the hard way!

Thanks to everyone here for helping me through the post VO2max blues! Looks like I'll make it to Madison!

  • Awesome job, Linda!!! I'm thinking you should tape a picture of Mike Graffeo's shoulder over your PM on your next FTP test

Great to see you and Keith!

  • Just saw the official results ... Linda, you actually averaged 212 watts! And Leigh and Michele were both over 200 too! Fantastic job all... EN Chickas rock!!

You have no idea how much I do not believe that the calibration on that machine was correct. We calibrated and all, but that's just crazy.

  •  Yeah.. crazy good

I'm not sure... you all were really cruisin'
