Hungry bear and evening eating times

Hi all
Looking for some tips and advice from Da Haus on evening eating habits.

I have a banana at 5pm, but Most evenings I come home from work (around 7) a hungry bear - rifling through the kitchen for food. ANY food! I have 30mins or so to eat, but with the kids wanting (and getting) my attention I'm really limited time wise to cook something. Currently my goto food is a small tortilla wrap with variations of pre-cooked chicken / beef chilli with salad - around 250-300cal. If I don't have is available I binge on bad foods e.g. Crisps/ chips.

Does anyone else have suggestions for what they have in the house to eat when they are in this situation?

Since I don't like to train within an hour of eating this means after getting the kids to bed I'm able to hop on the bike around 8:30, finishing off at around 9.30.

Straight after training I'll have 250ml chocolate milk, shower and then another small tortilla. In bed around 10.30. I'm thinking that this is far too late to eat. Should move this 2nd evening meal before the bike ride and only have the chocolate milk ? Or change it for something else e.g fruit and yoghurt?
Comments and suggestions are much appreciated.

  • When trying to lose, I find it useful to eat bigger breakfasts and lunches, and snack before five. Add some peanut butter to that banana. Then something to fuel the workout (like a gel), followed by a glass of chocolate milk and whatever else will fit on a saucer if I'm hungry (see desert dude diet). I am not yet in that mode, but it worked very well for me last winter.
