Edwin's Macro
Coach Rich,
My season plan that you just updated for me has me going from the OS to the Swim Camp and then to the run or bike focus. Your comment for that was whichever is my weaker area. How should I determine that? I can't really base it on my race performance. I have only raced one Ironman event. Although I have many 1/2 iron events, I have only just joined the EN Team last fall. I did not have the race pacing strategies that you & Patrick are teaching. So, I am 50 years old, 158 lbs, and 5'11". My current FTP is 268 to 275. I rode IMLP last year at 18.7 mph and kept my IF to .69. Currently I am running my mile repeats between 6:10 & 6:20. I was faster during the run durability training. I have a Vdot of 48-49. I train my bike all winter long on a computrainer. I am never afraid of the hard work you have prescribed. I train the run almost exclusively outside. February is the big snow month. My Treadmill only goes up to 10 and that is good enough only for a 6 minute pace for the 400's. Which area will give me the biggest ROI? I will follow the plan that will give me the best ROI.
Thanks

So you can't say one sport is weaker, even a little bit, than the other? Do you run durability issues?
If in doubt, I'd say do the Run Focus as you can never be a strong, fast, durable enough runner and you still have time to add to your FTP and bike fitness through the rest of your season to IMLP
