Early Spring Duathlons

Any thoughts on early spring duathlons or would rather focus on what the plan says?  I am racing IM boulder until August and Triathlons do not start until end of May in Michigan....need to race before that...

  • I'm all for early srping Duathlons. One of my FAVORITE races of the whole year is the American Zofingen duathlon in May. There's a Rogue thread about it here: http://members.endurancenation.us/Forums/tabid/57/aft/14389/Default.aspx

I wonder if there's anything cool like that out by where you live.
  • Galena. It's also in May. Great event and attracts a pretty competitive field. The bike is around 18 or 19 miles and it's not a joke.
  • Yup. My first multi sport event is usually the Mt Rainier Duathlon, end of April. run 5/30 mi bike with 2000' of climbing/4 mi run. Good way to check bike fitness and brick ability.
  • A du was just announced here for 3.9.14 Tough AS Nails in the North GA mountains. It could be very cold and wet! But I think will be a blast. 1.2 run/58 mile bike/ 13.1 run. About 2500 feet of climbing on the bike.Thank goodness I am in EN! I cant imagine people being ready for this in March.

  • Alex,

As a guy who has focued only on a IM in July.  Do to duathlon or get something on the calendar.  The OS has a 10K, 1/2 marathon target for the end maybe work some running races in the schedule.

  • I am racing the Southeast Duathlon championships on Feb 9 near St Petersburg (3-10-3)... typically draws about 1000 athletes. Lots of other duathlons in Florida as well.

The U.S. Long Course National Duathlon Championship is May 17 at Cary, N.C. (5-31-5) and qualifies for Zofingen World Championships in Sep.
