2014 IRONMAN TriClub Challenge
2013 was the first year for the Ironman Triclub Challenge and you all know, we crushed the competition and came in First!!
Last year the Challenge Point system worked as follows:
Race performance and participation (Age Group Ranking points 1,000 pts per athletes
Volunteering (1,000 pts. per race)
IRONMAN Foundation (1,000 pts. per athlete)
IRONKIDS athletes (triathlon and running races- 250 pts. per athlete)
Iron Girl Races (750 pts. per athlete)
Bonus points are awarded for athletes who participate in any of our 8 Regional Championships.
Bonus points are awarded to athletes who qualify for and race in either the IRONMAN World Championship or the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship.
The final details about the 2014 program will be rolled out at webinars hosted by Ironman.com at the end of January early February, at which time I will be able to give you more details, but in the meantime, here is what I can tell you:
Introduction of Loyalty Points - basically in addition to generating points towards becoming a global champion, points can also be earned AND redeemed during the year for cool stuff from us like (Ironman.com): race day porta potties, early entry, post race team picture with a pro, having your team picture used to introduce the club program as part of the Welcome Banquet or getting a sneak peek of the Kona Broadcast for your club, etc.
Loyalty points can be earned by:
1. Racing as part of the IRONMAN Foundation -2,500 points per athlete OR 10,000 if the team uses the Foundation platform to raise money for the team's favorite charity
2. Volunteering and yes the more volunteers you bring the greater the points
3. Racing Iron Girl - or other IRONMAN 5150 races - 1,000 per finisher
4. Helping your kids get off the couch by racing with IRONKIDS - IK race #1 in the Accenture IRONMAN 70.3 California - scholarship $$ to the school that brings the most kids!
AND FINALLY by RACING BONUS point races.!!!!!

Brenda - I didn't see IM Boulder in the groups/forums you just created. What's funny is i thought i saw it there when these first showed up, but i just checked and can't find it.
Also, Thanks for organizing this. It's really cool and the changes for 2014 sound like there will be more benefit/incentive for racking up points. Early entry is nice, but race day porta potties…..That's livin large!
Brenda, put this on your list, we have many athletes in the race. Thx
