Starting back up again

Hey Rich

I am trying to get back into things.... I DNF'ed Lake PLacid in July and then had a great race at IM Louiville in August.... then I seemed to switch into a "do nothing" phase,,,, I have put on 15-20 pds,,,,time to re-motivate

No real races on horizon except maybe an olympic first Sunday in May,,,,Where do I start?...what plan do I follow?

  • Hey Brotha!  Welcome back.

I took 2 years or so "off" and have spent the past couple of months "coming back" myself.  First thing I suggest is get moving!  Just move.  Maybe do a spin class at the gym and/or a short treadmill run.  Nothing long or hard.  Just move.  Then build from there.

My experience over the past years is that it takes me at least 1 month before I transition mentally from just *getting through* a workout to starting to find those momentary "sweet spots" of endurance where you start to feel like a tri-geek again.  Form that point I know I am back in the game.

    Good luck.  Now get busy!

  • Jeff,

Please take the Season Planning Survey under the Training tab above and I'll plan it out for you. That said, I'll probably put you in the PreSeason training plan so go ahead and load that one up until I can do your SP, later this week.
