Triathlon fueling window - low carb and high carb approach
I just read:
http://www.xtri.com/features/detail/284-itemId.511716724.html
This article probably raised more questions than it answered, but beyond the debunk of a low-carb fueling approach, I am particularly surprised by the recommendation of " you should likely be drinking 3 to 4 24oz bottles of Powerbar Perform every hour in training"
This seems like a shockingly high amount of both fluid and calories, especially for a routine training session.
Is anybody consuming this much during daily OS workouts? Any thoughts on the need to consume this much as a form of training your body to handle the carbohydrate load?

Hydration should be determined by a sweat test — see here http://members.endurancenation.us/Resources/Wiki/tabid/91/Default.aspx?topic=Monitoring+Hydration+Status
I drink 24 ounces per hour but it is a personal thing.
As for fuelling, most of us start with the Core Diet recommendations and test what works. I race around 148 pounds and take in 360 cals per hour on the bike and run — it's a lot but it is what I need.
YMMV
