Recovery Week

In the Off Season plans do you typically have a recovery week?  The plan seems to have the same intensity workouts each week with some building during the main set.

  • Michael, no, in the OutSeason we have Mondays and Fridays off _every_ week. Our philosophy is basically that a well-constructed week of training -- or several such weeks -- do not require a full week of reduced training to absorb. Happy to talk to you about this further if you want...

Note, if you feel like you NEED a week off, your body is the boss and you and I can sort that out there....Example, "Coach P I am in Week 7 of the OutSeason and am exhausted despite Monday / Friday off...what can I do?" and we can go from there!

    Hope that helps!

  • Thank you for the information.  The issue I am running into is I have a computrainer class on Monday nights which is wiping out one of the recovery days.  Since this has a fair amount in zone 4 by the time I get to the Thursday workouts I am fairly tired.  Is there a way to modify the days to accommodate the computrainer class?

Also if I choose to purchase a training plan versus the monthly subscription what are the differences in the level of support?

  • Michael -

If you are doing a CT class on Monday, then I suggest you plan on modifying your week as follows...this assumes you can run longer -- up to 90' -- on the Wednesday.

Mon - PM FTP Bike (Class)
    Tues - OFF
Wed - Long Run (from Sunday)
Thu - VO2 Bike (usual Thursday)
    Fri - OFF
    Sat - Sat Bike
Sun - Interval run (from Wed)

If the ^above^ does not work, then you can keep the Wed/Sun runs on regular days BUT you _have to_ do the Sunday run early and then rest rest rest until Monday night (36 hours of rest)...it would look like this:

Mon - PM FTP Bike (Class)
    Tues - OFF
    Wed - Interval Run
    Thu - VO2 Bike
    Fri - OFF
    Sat - Sat Bike
    Sun - Long run

if you go training plan you can email questions to the support address, but you don't get the forums, resources / videos, discounts, etc.

    Hope that helps!
