Yeah, I learned about that option while I was standing in line the morning after IMLP, with a thousand other people. Needless to say, I wish I'd known earlier!
Mike
Doesn't help me much based across the pond! Anyways of doing this by proxy? Seems like this new process will make it even harder to enter online......
Any other way of securing a place?
Dave
PS, anything via EN considering the big Team turn-out & support thru the years? RnP?
David,
The North American IM races reserve some slots for "international athletes". When I was UK based I emailed the race office as soon as registration opened. They then gave me instructions on how to sign up on active.com and I had a week or so to take the slot. I did this for IM Canada and IMLP several years ago. A few friends missed out as they were too slow (only about 10 or 15 slots were available globally) so I suggest you call them ahead of time to make sure you know the address to email (it should be on their website though) and best time to send the email.
Good luck!
Chris
thanks in advance

foot can finnaly fit in the bike shoe after surgery....ye ha! back on the bike!
I could be completely off on this, but I'm under the impression that you had to do RI 70.3 2010 to be eligible to sign up for IMLP 2011.
You definitely need to show your RI70.3 athlete wrist band when signing up for IMLP in Providence. Whether they confirm if you finished or not, I'm not sure. Was on the fence about signing up for IMLP '10 as I did RI 70.3 last year. The big hill on the RI run cured me of that.
Dan
are you positive you have to show your ri70.3 wristlet?
thanks in advance
Mike
The FAQ on the RI 70.3 website says: "The 2010 Amica Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island will offer slots/open registration for the 2011 Ford Ironman Lake Placid. All athletes must be a registered participant in the 2010 Amica Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island race and have their athlete wristband on to register."
Do they do this (register for next year's IMLP at a 70.3 event) every year? If so, which 70.3 races have offered this in prior years? Just planning ahead for IMLP 2012...
thanks again all.........
