Yikes! Half Marathon 3/22
Hi there! I'm signed up for a HM 3/22 and regretting it now since the weather has been so crappy. I haven't been doing that much "extra" running and my longest run has only been 6 miles. I'll probably get to 9-10 prior to race day and I'm OK with that. (I thought registering would motivate me more, but turns out the weather is a bigger deterent)
Anyway, my question is for my Sun. runs (I'm on the GF plan), should I do at least one or w (or more) of them at my estimated HM pace, vs. doing the 2 x 1mi, then Z1? Typically after the Z4 miles, I can't muster much more than Z1 because my neighborhood is so hilly. My focus is GF, but I do think I might need a run or 2 at targeted pace.
Thoughts?

I'm kinda in the same spot as you Kim, but my half mary is at the end of April. Here is what I did for ya. I downloaded the Half Mary Intermediate Plan to end March 23. You have 5 weeks to go until your race. Here is what the long Sunday run has on that plan.
Week of Feb 12 - 90 minutes ( I would make this 70 minutes, since that is just 10 minutes more than what we are already running on Sundays)
MS: 3/3/3 as 3 miles at goal pace PLUS 30 seconds/mile, then 3 miles at goal pace, then 3 miles FASTER than goal pace.
Warm Up as you would for a regular race, including some 30" pick ups. Track your splits per mile for post-run analysis.
Week of Feb 24 – 80 minute run
MS: 8 miles @ LRP/z1/Easy.
Week of Mar 3 – 90 minute run
MS: 4 miles @ LRP/z1/Easy, 6 miles at HMP/z3/ModHard.
Solid effort run!!!
Week of March 10 - 90minute run
MS: 5 miles @ LRP/z1/Easy, 1 mile @ TP/z4/Hard, 1 mile @ LRP/z1/Easy, 1 mile @ TP/z4/Hard.
Week of March 17 – race week
I am now going to go in an reset the date to end April 29 and see what the long runs are for me. Hope this helps Kimmie.
Are you doing any other modifications to the GF plan to prep?
Hey Kim,
I'm in the exact same boat! I have a half Mary on 3/22 as well. Also longest run 6 miles so far. Also on the GF plan.
Thanks Brenda for posting modifications to the GF plan. I'll follow too. This weather has really been a deterrent to training. Fingers crossed the ice and snow melts soon.
Good luck to you!
