Coach Rich,
I had a good 14 week Nov out season, Feb 1-10 I went sailing in the BVI , got in a couple good 1 hr runs and some good swims. My plan was to get back on 2-11 and jump into the IMTX plan. However on the last day of the trip I totally wrenched my lower back, hip and right thigh. Very heavy luggage and a big hill. Im pretty sure it was just muscular but it totally took me out. Finally today I felt good enough to run 3 miles on the treadmill, nothing fast but at my IM pace. So my question is how bad is the 3 week layoff going to hurt progression towards Texas. Next week will be week 9, Do you think I can get back up to the distances required in time to have a good race? Should I just go next week and try for the prescribed workouts or ease back into them? Or should this be a coach P question?
Thanks Terry

Hi Terry, you're fine, it is what it is. Just be smart this week, listen to your body and adjust the workouts accordingly.
Rich,
This was a lot longer recovery than I had planned for. Injury was on Feb 9 and today, 2 months later, I did my first en workout. But I am starting over on week 1 of the 20 week plan shooting for Louisville. I dont think that after a 2 month layoff with only short bikes and runs there is any way for me to catch up for texas. My question is after this layoff should I be ok starting with the 20 week plan to get back up to speed for Louisville?
Terry
Hey Terry,
Yes, please set the training plan to end on IMLou and drop into the plan from there. I suggest you go with the Beginner plan, at least for the first ~8wks, as this is the least risky of our plans and is a good option for someone coming back from an injury.
Good luck!
