Lake Stevens feedback solicited

So, Alaskan Airlines is starting non-stop service from Tampa to Seattle this summer and I bought my tickets today on a promotional.   Does anyone have  a suggestion on what hotel to stay at?  It doesn't look like there is anything closer than Everett.   Also, any tips on racing this course?  How hilly is the bike, the run?

  • It is pretty easy to get there from Everett. Course is pretty hilly with T-bone turns. Probably the slowest bike I have done. I am not a great handler, you may do better. Run is not bad, 2 loops with some rolling. Be sure to find the cord on the swim. I did not have to look up until we got to the turn. Fun race. Let me know if any other Qs.
  • David ... Is this cord a cable on the bottom? Is the lake clear enough to see it? Is it there on the way back?
  • It is a cable. Very clear, probably 10' under? It goes out to he turnaround but I do not recall if it was there on the way back. My sister goes to LS often. I will check and see if she knows. Good luck!

  • There are many great lodging options in Everett, Wa (20 minutes away). Usually great weather, although it was 99 the last time I did it. Swim is great although the sediment gets stirred up, so if you are in the back waves you can be swimming through milky water. Cable is visible the entire course. Bike was new a couple years ago, tough bike, a couple very big hills. Think EN style. The run is rolling but fast, lots of mojo on the run. It's a figure 8 through "town". If your doing it let me know, maybe ill join you, it would be great to meet you.
