Strained back recovery-ready to start training again
Coach Patrick,
I hope you are well. I sent you an email about a week ago which you may not have seen. I was in OS week 4 Beginner. The Wednesday after we spoke on a Monday I had suffered a severe back strain from-you guessed it --shoveling the snow. I saw my orthopedic doctor-no disc issues and engaged in physcial therapy a couple of times per week since the injury. ( Also have slight tear in my muscle in my shoulder-unrelated) My doctor who has run marathons and has done IM said once my back is feeling ok I am good to go. Over this time I definitely started to improve. The strain in my lower back also was in an area that I was having issues from cycling on my indoor trainer. I basically did no training for 2 1/2 weeks. I had a new bike fit this Saturday and had some adjustments made to the stem of my bike and adjustments to my seat. Feels better. I had an 1 hour swim lesson this Saturday with Thea , cycled very lightly last week for about 15 minutes. Today I ran 2.6 miles at a 9:30 minute pace. Thankfully, I am feeling ok and believe that I can start my training again in earnest. Where do you believe I should pick up my training. I would like to ease back into it this coming week.
