Joint pain zone 1 No pain zone 4/5

Does anyone else have this problem? OS week 13 Int. My joints, especially left knee hurts when running zone 1 pace /recovery but goes away when running the zone 4 and zone 5 repeats. If only I could hold these paces from a cardiopulmonary stand point - I'd always run fast. I suspect my form is closer to being more correct when running fast and falls apart when running slow. The exact opposite of what happens when I swim. Any thoughts/tips?

  • @Robert - I occasionally get some joint pain (more discomfort than pain) in early miles of run or 1st 1000 yds of swim. For me, it subsides after I "warm up". Does your pain go away after warmup or are you still feeling it after the high level intervals?
  • I still feel the pain after warm up but only when I run the recovery pace. As long as I am holding a quicker pace the pain goes away.
  • This happens to me a bit. As a result I never run zone 1 but rather just fast enough to have my "normal" running form which ensures no issues.
