DYI gearing question

Just bought a power tap wheel from Wheelbuilder and was thinking about mounting the cassette which is currently on my road bike on it, to be used on my Tribike. Cassette is a shimano cs6600 27-12 and tribike is full 105 drive train (currently riding a cs 5700 25-12 cassette). Will there by any issues or are these compatible, even though the 27-12 cassette is an older model?

Thanks

  • That will work just fine.

For reference here are all of the combinations that are compatible.

  • That will be a breeze. It's all VERY compatible unless you try mixing speeds. Like 11 speed DR and a 10 speed cassette....
  • Just because everyone else is too nice to let him know, its "DIY" (aka Do It Yourself) not DYI. Sorry Jan. Hope I don't DYI for writing this comment.
  • Yes it will work as I have the same setup on my TT and road bike. Just be aware once you start going to a gear size larger than 28 from something 28 or less, you very likely will need to increase the chain length in addition to adjusting the clearance of the rear derailleur. If you don't you risk damaging the derailleur and possibly the bike frame.
