I have a question about bike sessions. When it says "hard", is that using high gears or high cadence?

Neither. "Hard" is a training zone, as defined by heart rate or power, if you have it. "Hard" refers to how this effort (as measured by HR or power) should feel.

  • Hello,

I am having a hard time getting used to training in CT (moved here from TX last summer). I am starting to consider not doing Lake Placid and maybe doing Louisville instead. Any thoughts?

Also Louisville happens to be my birthday weekend.

  • That's fine, it's much more a function of how either race works for you, work, personal, and family timing-wise, vs any training considerations. If you do make that change, please submit another Season Planning Survey, under the Training tab above, and I'll rework your Season RoadMap for you.
  • Hello, I am starting to think about my 2015 season. To start you should know that after IMLP I will only be allowed by "the boss" (AKA wife) to do IM races every other year. 70.3's and Olympics are fair game.
With that in mind these are the races in my sights (all within driving distance from CT), please note I still need to do Princeton in a few weeks and the list does not mean I want to do all in 2015.

    Mont-Tremblant 70.3 June 21st
    NYC Triathlon July 19th
    Timberman TBD mid Aug
Rev 3 Maine Aug 24th could do olympic if I do Timberman?
Rev 3 Pocono Sept 14th also Olympic?

I still need to figure out if there is anything local in April or May that I could use to prepare for MT

I am curious about your thoughts, if I had to choose I'd say MT, NY and Maine

I am curious about your thoughts, if I had to choose I'd say MT, NY and Maine <-- this timing / spacing between races is good. Don't overthink though. If a race sounds like fun and works for you and your family do it. As long as you have ~4-6wks between HIMs, everything else is good. When you decide on a schedule, take the TSR survey, under the Training tab above, and I'll plan it out for you. </span>

  • Hello
So here is the deal....I have been working like crazy for the last 2.5 months. On top of that I messed up my back a month and half ago. In a nutshell I have not trained. How should I modify my plan? I am back to running (little by little) and I should be able to bike and swim.

    Thoughts?

    Hey Carlos,

Please submit another Triathlon Season RoadMap request, under the Training tab above, so I can confirm your race schedule, etc and plan this out more formally for you.

  • Hello Coach.

I submitted my new roadmap request almost 10 days ago and I have not heard back. Do you have any news?

    Appreciate your help.

    Cheers, CSA
