Rian's Micro Thread

Hey P!

I've got a work travel interruption in the OS coming: Weeks 11 & 12 I will be doing a bunch of field work and meetings in the Amazon. I'm guaranteed to have no access to a bike, but I do plan to continue on with the run wkos. It seems like without the bike it might be a good time to do a little run camp those two weeks. I'm pretty sure I can get to run almost any day, even when in the field we'll be staying at a research camp, with road access. So I guess the read question is what kinds of runs to fill in on the bike days? My thoughts would be to add in z2/z3 time on Tue / Thu 30' brick runs and extend them out to 60'? I'd see this as a way to bump up the durability, what do you think?

  • Rian didn't you just do an Ironman!!??! image Great to hear from you...hope the fam is well. You have two choices...

#1 - Go Run Camp and run daily...that means running 30' to 45' a day with really no flash (b/c of volume) save for strides....OR...

#2 - Follow the wiki guidance here (http://members.endurancenation.us/Resources/Wiki/tabid/91/Default.aspx?topic=Plan+personalization+for+expected+(or+unexpected)) that says we alternate work with recovery....so VO2, then rest day, then Zone4, then rest day, then longer run, then rest day. My guess is there will be some fun had on this trip...might be nice to be able to do that 100% without being dialed in to some crazy run...unless, of course, going to the Amazon is totally passe for you....

  • Thank P!

Everyone's well here, hope the same is for you and yours!! Looking forward to see you crush your 40 on 40th!

Thanks for the input. I'll try to take the alternating hard / easy or off approach. Its going to be a crazy travel schedule with a lot of long hours doing field work and no days off, but I'm going to need the mental break on most days so getting in a run will be a treat!

Thanks again for all you do!

  • Crushing 40 is a bit of an overstatement...I am hoping to survive!!! image

I work harder for exotic pictures... image
