Run pacing for JOS Vo2 "rest"

Coach Patrick, question came up in another forum so I thought good to add here. The new Vo2 workouts are great, but there isn't any guidance on what you should be doing on "rest" time....or remainder of workout time. What zone should we be at?

Appreciate advise.

Thanks!

  • Dawn, can you give me an example of the workout you mean? In general, rest is an effort that allows you to be as close to 100% on the next interval...so if it was power, I'd be between 40% and 50% FTP...maybe build effort in last 10" before next interval starts, but that's it!
  • Hello Patrick - I was actually referring to the runs.  Yesterday was the first Vo2 workout and those are stated as such.  It's a full 60 minute workout and the Vo2 reps, plus warm up only take about 30 minutes.  Currently there isn't any guidance on what we should be running for the remaining 30 minutes or so.  Make sense?

    Thanks!

  • Dawn, sorry!!! What I am typically looking for is "I am in the Beginner OutSeason Plan, Week 10 and I see on Wednesday's VO2 run that....."

Otherwise we might not connect...my apologies for the lack of guidance...I apparently only updated the Sunday runs with the info...so here it is before I fix it tomorrow!

" Remainder of run is how you feel, but try to accumulate time @ MP/Z2/Steady. "

    Thanks for catching this!
  • Thanks Patrick, exactly what I needed!
