Video camera

Can anyone recommend a video camera for me. Not to expensive, lightweight, easy to carry around.

For those that have one, do they take still shots as well?

 Thanks ahead for any info

  • I love my FlipHD video camera.  Quality is good.  Price is great, $150-230.  And it is not much bigger than an iPhone.

    Hope that helps.

  • My wife just got an Iflip HD also and recorded my Swim in a local Sprint and all my transitions. Despite being in full zoom its video was still GREAT on full screen mode on my computer. I would suggest it to anyone. It is very portable very easy to use.
  • Not a video camera, but I picked up a Olympic Stylus Tough camera last year and love it. It isn't the best camera, but it takes pretty decent 10MP pictures and does good video as well. I have a 2gb card in it and I can get over 30 minutes of video i believe. The reason i got it is that is is waterproof, shockproof, and freezeproof. I have used it in the pool many times to get underwater video and it works great. I also can leave it in my pocket running and riding and I don't worry about it getting wet or dropped.
  • +1 on the Stylus Tough. I got one step below that (the Waterproof, but not shockproof version) and have been very happy with it. 10MP camera, decent video quality. I have an 8MB card installed and it can carry a ton of pics and video.

  • I have a Flip and I love it. It's easy to carry and shoot video. All the software is loaded on the camera so you don't have to hold on to the CDs that come with other cameras. It's REALLY simple, just plug it in and wha-la, there's you videos. You can't get too fancy with what you do with the videos, but the basics of the software is really simple.
  • also a fan of the flip. I use it in the clinic all the time. great picture and easy to use. image

  •  Got the Flip HD Ultra. So far so good ( i think, hope videos were ok Leigh). It was easy to use.

The sales person was trying to get me to buy a different one, more expensive with the claim that you only get 120 min. I doubt that i would video anything for that long, so went with flip.

Thanks for suggestions. As far as stylus, my current camera is acting up. An earlier digital camera. Was having problems with it in Haiti. My pictures there did not come out well. So will be looking for camera later in year. May consider that one.

  •  I have a Pentax Optio W80 which is similar to the Olympus camera. It is waterproof/shockproof and takes both 12megapixel pictures and HD video recording to a 8GB memory card. Very happy with it.

My new toy though is an X170 Helmet Camera that I have mounted to the handlebars of my bike. Video is regular quality (not HD), but very fun.
