Everyone ready?

Everyone ready? For me it has been a crazy past few weeks. I survived a big bike week and racing a sprint yesterday. This morning I did my final race rehearsal. It didn't quite go as planned because my power meter was dead so I had to do it by RPE, but I was within 5 minutes of where I thought I would be and I felt fine on the run. It was also pretty hot which I am glad about because it really validated my nutrition.

Like Juan said on the dashboard, now is the time to hunker down and make sure not to overeat over the next two weeks to make sure I race at my ideal body comp! My weight has been all over the place last week. I burned 15,000+ calories in 4 days because of the big bike week and I think it took a toll on me. On wednesday I broke down and completed gorged myself on carbs. I also way overdid it on sodium. Because of that I retained a whole lot of water and my weight suddenly shot up like 8 pounds! I felt horribly bloated and gross for the next two days. Things have settled down now a bit but I still don't feel quite right. I hope I have the dedication to control myself!

I am starting to feel the race excitement! Anyone else?

  • I'm definitely excited about this race. Looking forward to pulling out of Dallas for a long weekend with my bride & our youngest kiddo (15 months old). I had my RR yesterday (& would welcome any feedback - there is a thread about it here - http://members.endurancenation.us/Forums/tabid/57/aft/14859/Default.aspx).

Definitely agree that I'll need to watch the calories over the next two weeks. I'd love to be at 182-183 for race day - sitting at about 186 right now.
  • Ready or not.... we all have less than two weeks to go...looking forward to hearing the the race talk on Wednesday.
My fitness is where its at so I'm going to focus on my race execution. Oceanside weather has been perfect...
  • I am feeling rather insecure.... I think my bike is stronger than last year, but my long run is no where to be found. I just haven't had the time or the desire. Every time I find the time, a bike ride sounds like more fun.... I have been getting in the mile repeats, but I fear my endurance is lacking. I also worry I started my swimming too late after my winter swimming hiatus....

    Oh, well.... We shall see.
  • This race has a very impressive pro start list. Good luck everyone
  • image Cruising along at 30,000 feet on our way to Oceanside!! Can't wait to race!
