Florida 70.3... 1 month to go!

Alright folks, this week is test week!  Hope all the hard work you have been putting in pays off this week, and you start to see some gains in your tests.  This is the final test week before race day, so give it all you've got.

Just a reminder, race guide and bib numbers are available on the Florida 70.3 website.  There was a slight change in the swim course, so be sure to check it out.

Other than that, have a great test week!  Keep the EN mojo going.

  • Interesting morning. The wind was blowing sideways @zero dark 30 for my 2x1 mile @zone 4. The 6 x 500's were going swimminglyimage and then the monsoon hit. I had 400 yards to go and they made us get out of the pool... grrrrr! I think the lifeguards just didn't want to sit in the rain, no lightening just crazy rain and wind. What the heck I was already soaked and just wanted to finish.
  • @Paula 1) Sorry your OUTDOOR swimming work out got cut short image

                  2) Great work. those 6x 500's are no joke. sets 1-5 were all within 5 seconds of target time, last set was a struggle.

  • Sorry Paula, I have to agree with Jan on this one. I am hoping we can get an outdoor ANYTHING in this weekend image However, very much looking forward to the Florida racing weather. And don't mind us, we are simply jealous image
  • No worries, I wish I had an indoor swim option. My swimming is not where it should be because I refuse to swim outdoors @5am when it is 58 degrees. Sounds wimpy I know, but that is cold by our standards and humidity levels. The getting in is ok, the getting out is not. I actually find myself shivering while swimming sometimes.
  • OBTW I grew up near the Poconos so I know where you are coming from.  I used to run outside no matter what, but indoor biking and swimming all winter would suck.
  • Had a good run rehearsal yesterday but around mile 6-7 began getting some left knee pain, but it wasnt bad enough to stop running. Discomfort decreased around mile 10 when I picked up the pace. So maybe it was my form at a slower pace, not sure. But its not feeling great today, so I think I'll take the weekend off from running and just get in the bike workouts.

  • First comfortable ride outdoors yesterday. Rode 54 miles on  a bike/run path by our house. Was extremely motivating to see others running and biking as well and enjoying the first nice day of spring. Also gave me good confidence that I can ride the HIM distance since I never got up to 56 miles on the trainer. But the trainer workouts are paying off, they definitely got me prepared.

Hopefully doing a 6-7 mile run today.

One more week of hard training and then we begin the taper for the race.!!!

  • Okay Paula, Jan and I can stop our complaining about the weather now. We were able to get outside for BOTH a bike and a run this weekend!! It felt great to get outdoors and it we actually had a little bit of sunshine on Saturday too. Going into the week with good energy to make it through this last week of tough training before the taper. Very much looking forward to this race in sunny FL! image
  • That's awesome, congrats!

I know must of the country is looking forward to summer, but I am dreading it.  It has been so nice having cooler weather and low humidity.. have to get mentally prepared for the blazing hot and sticky training for Chattanooga.
