Melissa's Micro -- Hills at Oceanside

Hi Coach Rich.  I just watched the Oceanside 70.3 webinar (which was great BTW) but I wanted to ask for clarification of the hill section on the bike as it relates to power.  I am not quite clear on what you meant about riding the hill sections.  I think what you are saying is it is okay to go outside your zones to start the momentum up and over the hill in order to carry it through.  What I am not sure of is at what point to start that.  After the first hill?  Please let me know when you have a moment.  Thanks!

The section I'm talking about is on the backside of the course. At about mile 41-42 you're going to climb a hill. Just past the top of that hill you'll see a 1000m sniper rifle range on the right side. From that point until you make the right on Vandegrift (airfield on your right) it's generally downhill rollers. So the strategy is to work a bit harder on those hill, just those, so you keep your speed up and roll through the next hill, and the next, etc.

I'm going to move your thread into the IMCA forum, so more people will see.
