Workouts week of Mar 24.

OK,

Race day for me is April 19 so we are less than a month out.  The final stretch looms.  Going over the course maps and on-course nutrition options. Fine tuning the race plan. getting ready to put "granny" in the LBS for a pre-race tune up.  Get those final workouts in and get ready to race.

Am I the only one who feels like sleeping all of the time?

  • No you aren't. It's a huge struggle for me to get up for morning swim sessions.
  • I'll see you your "huge struggle to get up for morning swimming" and raise you a "sleep in and blow off swim workouts".  Check my Strava feed...lots of impromptu rest days where the swim workouts were supposed to be.

I'm a week out from IM 70.3 CA.  Feeling great.  Volume dropping off per the plan but the intensity's been dialed up (at least for the run).  I also blew off a couple of swims per above.

  • @Paul - my wife swims with me now so I have no choice but to get up and go image

@Rich - Good luck man! remember to "Taper with intent" and use that time to get your gear tuned up to keep your mind off of not training.

Good Run/Ride yesterday. Except for the part where my saddle got loose at 20 miles out and I had to try and find an allen wrench in St. George on a Sunday AM. I had to limp it back and tighten the seat before finishing the last 15 miles. 30 min run went well and hit my pace for the 1 mile interval with no problem. Swim today. Bike test Wed.

    Have a great week team.
  • Ouch, long week.
Bike test this week, down just a hai from the end of the OS but pretty stable overall.

Long Run today 12 miles at an average pace of 9:26/mi. steady pace overall but no negative split. HR showed a steady rise though so I met my heart pate goals even though the pace did not change much.

Long bike tomorrow. then again Sunday.
Good luck to all the team members racing this weekend!
  • Sat bike went well.
Nutrition was close to what the spreadsheet said that I need.
only just got a little stomach upset near the end.
HR intervals showed WAY too much variability but it probably had a lot to do with headwinds.

Chances are not looking so good for a ride today. Some days are like that...
    Swim in AM.
  • Looks like solid training and you're just a few weeks out. I've been unactive on this thread and need to step it up. I'm 7weeks out from the first 70.3 of the season. Have my first RR this weekend!
  • @jonathan perfect timing! My second Bike RR is this Sat when I go to bike the course and run one loop of the run course. Unfortunately, it is the same weekend as the Charleston Cooper River bridge run. I am hoping that the bulk of the traffic is downtown and will not be on my bike course!
