Bryan Baumgardner Macro Thread

Rich,

Thank you for the information email today on my upcoming training plans.  I am super stoked about this season and signed up as a full member prior to my trial period ending.  I have a couple items I am unsure what to do next.  I completed the form to be considered in the first time finisher program but am not sure how this transitions from your plan or what I need to do next.  Second, what team requirements do I have New Orleans if any?  I am guessing it will be hard to purchase a kit prior to New Orleans.  Can you point me in the right direction?  I apologize if I used the wrong forum for these questions.  I look forward to learning also.

Thanks,

Bryan

  • Rich,

Also, I have been using the Run/Walk (4/1) plan to complete several marathons etc.  I had blood clots back in 2002 and it seems to make the running easier on the body.  Will I be able to use this method effectively in the training plans?

That's all you need to do for now. We'll be in touch with next steps. Second, what team requirements do I have New Orleans if any? None for now. The jazz we'll have you do (submit this, read that, race in our kit, etc) will apply to full IM's and we can expect you to leap into our kit right away for a race that's just a couple weeks out :-) I am guessing it will be hard to purchase a kit prior to New Orleans.  Can you point me in the right direction?  I apologize if I used the wrong forum for these questions.  I look forward to learning also.

    Thanks,

    Bryan

yes, that's fine, though I'd encourage you to work you way up conservatively to 5/1, 6/1, etc. And FYI, our standard IM execution advice for the run is to walk ~30secs at every aid station.
  • Good evening Coach. Just finished New Orleans and have a quick question for the start of next weeks plan where I switch to the "get faster" program. I'm assuming that is the beginner plan. Is that correct? Thanks for the help.

I recommend you go with the same ability level that you used for the HIM plan.

  • Next Question. I am on week 3 of the Get Faster program. Am I able to switch the order of the workouts during a specific week? An example would be, can I switch all activities Tuesday to Saturday and move Saturday's long bike ride to Tuesday? Sometimes with my work/family commitments, it is easier to complete the long bike ride during the week.

    Yes, that's fine, shouldn't a problem

  • Rich,

I hope you are doing well.  I have a race change that I need to make from Ironman Louisville to Ironman Maryland.  What changes do I need to make or just change the date in the Ironman plan on June 2?

    Bryan,

Please go here and give me your schedule. Note that this is a new tool/process that we're slowly going live with. Thanks.
