Dawn Piburn Change in Race Schedule

Hi Coach Rich - I've had to make a change in my races for this season. Instead of the Half Rev distance for WisDells, I'm changing it to the Olympic distance. This is based on a ridiculous work schedule, and the craptastic winter that continues to plague us up here in MN - I know I won't be ready to race it to the level I'm aiming for at this time. I'm still on for Superiorman 70.3 in August though, plus two half-marathons and the Twin Cities Marathon in October. 



So my question is, should I switch my HIM training to week one? Superiorman is August 24th. Thanks, Rich!

    Dawn, sorry to hear that. I'd rather you:

     

    • Today, load up the Short Course plan to end on 6/22
    • On 6/2, load up the HIM plan to end on 8/24.
    • We'll talk about what happens after SHIM after that race.

    The above has you using the SC plan as general prep for the HIM plan. I believe this is a better training plan for your current fitness. 

     

  • Thanks, Rich. I loaded up the Intermediate SC plan. Weather here finally is warming up, so I'll have more opportunity to bike outside, rather than on the trainer.
