@ Doug Thanx! Hilly but I was happy with breaking (smashing) the 2:00 barrier! @Paul -i realy think I need to race more-just for fun. Ever sence i started Triathlon Ive done usualy 2 AAA races and just hard focoused training. Now that my times are starting to get "respectable" I think the occasional OLY or sprint (X-Terra etc) just to enjoy the experience would be good for me. I realy enjoyed the HM.....and I didn't do any HM prep/taper....just run and even took headphones out and enjoyed the sights and sounds....
@ Al LOL.....I hear ya no such thing as a likely VDOT (that's sacred like saying "my W/kg would be ....if.." I just meant that my prior training intervals and such suggested a significant improvement in the 2-3mile pace range-which I had not tested for formally. IM thinking on plugging back in the 42 vs the 40 ...as you said "for training purposes" ....I know it was the push to hold those numbers in training that lead to my success on Sunday(I kept thinking 8:05 split-again?! after 9 miles...that’s crazy! -but consistent with the VDOT ).
@ David - I race a lot...because I enjoy it and I am stupid. I also know that I am UNABLE to push myself in training the same way I will when I am in a race no matter how small. I can train more intensely by entering races that fit with my long term training objectives. The key between an A race and lesser races is simply how much rest I allow myself.
Nice job everyone on the last OS run tests! Matt, you have some good tri-genes in the family! Richard is on your heels!
I am in the same boat as David. My previous 5K Vdot was 39, but I ran a hilly HM for this test and came in with a Vdot of 38, finishing in 1 hr 54 mins. My quads were smoked at the finish, as I tried to empty the gas tank at the end.
Based on my training intervals, I feel like I can do a faster 5K time right now than the OS week 8 test, but no phamtom/dream Vdots around here. I will try to get a 5K test in before the end of the 2 week transition from OS to summer training.
I will stick to Al's advice to David and train back at my old VDot and go from there.
So....not really an OS question....but....Now that OS is over and it seems like there are others going into Swim camp....I didn't see any "Swim camp" forums ......also as there is no forum for Vinman Full (July26) should I: A) stalk the 70.3 Vineman group {seems inappropriate..."hey I just did a 4.5 HR tempo ride with a 2hr brick run(hills)...what Did you guys do today..."} find a race forum with similar event date (any?) so that I can follow with (within a week or so) "I'm in week 10 of Race prep..." C) or....
I kinda like having the community feedback and acountability....
@ David - you should join the IMLP group since that race is the same weekend. That way you'll get all the training accountability and mojo, only you will execute at a different venue.

Feeling stronger for sure after these 14 weeks!
