GF Week 1 - Week of April 1 Test Week
I started the Get Faster block last week and would benefit from a group experience like that of the NOS. Brenda gave me the go ahead, to start a new thread, and here we are. I can’t be the only one starting GF this week, can I? If so, I’ll have a nice conversation with myself. I am in the GF Beginning 8 week block.
I am posting this at the beginning of the 2nd week, so I will recap week one.
I just finished up the Bike Focused block and put off testing for this week.
Tuesday Bike Test: First test with power
Vo2 Max Test - 264 w
FTP Test - 219
Tuesday Swim Test: Slower than expected at 19:54. During Swim Camp in Feb. my time was 17:39. It probably has something to do with the bike test that I completed at 5:00 AM.
Thursday 5k Time Trial: 21:59 vDOT 45. Shaved :50 off of my last test of 22:49 vDOT 42. I paced it a little conservatively as I still had gas in the tank and didn’t feel like puking as I did after every other test.
Saturday bike – 120 min. late start cut my ride short at 90 minutes, though I hit all of the main points: 2 X 12’ @Z4 & 6 X 1’ @ Z5.
Saturday run – 30 min Z3 out/Z2 back. First wo with the new pacing and I had a hard time keeping up. It didn’t help that the route I chose is quite hilly.
Sunday Run – 60 min 4 X ½ mile @ Z4. Nailed all of the intervals, but it required a few walking breaks to fuel and drink.
