Excerpt from "Triathlon for Masters and Beyond," by Ian Stokell

Ironman.com has posted excerpts from a new book on aging by Ian Stokell. It looks like he beat Joe Freil to the punch on this one. http://www.ironman.com/triathlon/news/articles/2014/04/masters-triathlon-does-age-matter.aspx#axzz2yM6g1zNr

From the excerpts it doesn't look like anything new that i haven't read in Joe's blogs or other places. it does align well with the EN training I've been doing in the OS and get faster.

  • Mark, thanks for posting. Certainly nothing new in there, but depressing to see all of it in one place. I was lifting 3 x per week during the OS but have backed off to 1 or 2 times per week now that I am starting the season. And I have been working to put in more intensity and less reliance on volume. I also realize that until I retire, I'm going to have to work out a little less to get additional recovery. That's the one part where I disagree with the article...I hate recovery time every bit as much now as I did in my 20s.
