Skip-- Create a topic in the Gear forum about this. Also do a search of the forums as I know they have been discussed. I know Dino Sarti has a pair as well as a few other folks so they'll likely chime in to a topic in the gear forum. But "most" people (other than the coaches) don't even look in the "Micro or Macro" threads. This is your place to ask specifically for the Coaches guidance on how to modify your plan for a specific week (Micro) or for the bigger picture of the season (Macro). Cheers! --JW
Notwithstanding the early adopter warnings, I purchased the Vector Power Pedals (to go with my other power meter ). They have performed fine.
I echo Dino's advice on using a torque wrench for proper set up. You will also need to get a crowfoot wrench adapter to be able to tighten the pedals as the space between the pedals and the crankarm is tight. I purchased one from Snap-on (through Amazon) that fits and does the job. Lastly, I had to update the firmware in the Vector Power Pedals to get them to give me consistent power readings. The firmware update was done through a Garmin app downloaded to my MacBook and the Ant+ interface.
Your primary consideration should be a proven, reliable, reliable, proven, and reliable powermeter system.
It's very common for people wanting to get into to the game to look at price point first and go from there. Instead, you should be looking at what the proven systems are in the market and going that direction, even with a used PM, vs going with an unproven system that better fits your price point.
User testimonials in this thread not withstanding, I'd still like to see the Vector get banged on by people more before I would put it on the same plane as Powertap and Quarq, the two proven systems in the market place.
That said, I am a Garmin dealer, through Wheelbuilder, if you do decide to go the Vector route.
