Cary Hull IM Canada Macro
Hello Coaches,
I've been following the outseason training plan you provided which just ended today. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do now other than change my training plan to the full IM inseason plan and put in the date of my event but that puts me into the plan at week 5. I've been lonewolfing it during the outseason and getting the workouts in but I think it's time I take advantage of the program and coaching that I've been paying for all these months.
What should I do next? Should I give you my bike and run test stats to help you tailor my last 15 weeks of training?
Thanks!
Cary

Hi Cary,
Your Season Plan is below and the accompanying screencast is here. Please follow the instructions in the screenshot below and the screencast, and you'll be fine. Good luck!
Need some clarification on the inseason training plan to which I just transitioned. On the days with two workouts (run/bike, run/swim, etc.) am I supposed to be doing them one after the other and in the order presented in the plan? Or is it up to me to get them both in, possibly split by my workday, and in whichever order I'd like?
Thanks, in advance, for the tune up.
Cary
They don't need to be done back to back, though that's often the most time efficient way to get them in, and we always put the more important workout of the day first. IOW, you're fine doing them back to back, or not, depending on what works for you. They are not scheduled that way for coach-y coach-y reasons
Hello,
I just found out that my gym's pool has been closed indefinitely. I scrambled and found a pool about 10 minutes from my home but they do not open early enough to accommodate me swimming before going to work and they only have lap swim in the evenings for an hour M/W/F which does not line up with the training schedule's Tuesday swims.
What are your thoughts about swapping Tuesday's and Wednesday's training? I'll try to find another pool that I can make it to after work on Tuesdays but in case I can't I'm wondering how the training can be modified.
Thanks,
Cary
Cary,
Are you talking about swapping the swims or swapping the bikes and runs? Moving swims on the calendar isn't a big deal, just make sure you have enough time between whatever bike or run you may be doing that day and the swim. Leg stuff + swim done too close together often equals leg cramps.
Moving bikes and runs on the calendar is another matter and usually more complicated.
I was originally talking about taking *all* the training for Tuesday and moving it to Wednesday, and the same with *all* the training for Wednesday and moving it to Tuesday. The idea being that the runs on Tuesday and Wednesday may have been designed with the other activity being done that day (bike or swim) so they should stay with that activity.
However, if the run schedule is just the run schedule for the week regardless of whether I'm swimming or biking that day, too, then I could just swap the swim on Tuesday with the Bike on Wednesday.
The main problem that I'm trying to solve here is I can only swim, M/W/F (and weekends). I don't want to just drop the Tuesday swim entirely so I'm trying to figure out the best way to move the swim to Wednesday. However, I don't have time to do all three activities on Wednesday so something has to be moved from Wednesday to the hole left on Tuesday.
Hope that makes more sense.
I found a pool that works with my work schedule and is affordable for the Tuesday swims. I shouldn't need to swap anything, after all.
Thanks.
