How to show off EN training

So today I went for a nice 3.5 mile run then followed it up with a bike ride outdoors with my brother. I have been explaining to him the EN way and tried to get him to join during the OS. But he trains by feel  I got him to buy a bike trainer this year and every week I would ask did you ride today, and the  same answer most of the time he responded "No I went to the gym and rode the bike there" well I know he was not pushing himself like he should but you can only say so much.  Now we have trained and race before together and he was always faster than me in the run and could keep up with me on the bike.

So today during the ride we start off and I start pushing my watts to where they should be, and I look behind and he is dropping back, I slow down and start off again and once again I drop him. Well this goes on for the whole ride but we get the last big hill and he goes by me, I just stay where I am suppose to be and then at the top of the hill, I pull up and ask him if he can go to the hardware store later, he asks why and I say I need to replace the hammer I am about to drop  and since he had burned himself out on the hill he could not respond.

Now I just need to get him in a road race.

Maybe now he will listen to me and train right and be ready for Timberman Half.

  • Who's the big brother? Gotta love it!
  • Awesome. I'll remember the hammer dig.

My oppertunity may come on the run as I have been working on my hill running technques.

Slow and steady going up then lean forward going down, increased cadence with no heel striking, while everyone else hammers their quads and breaks with their heels.

  • LOL!! That's a good one! Sounds like you had a really fun day out riding. image
  • Must be Spring! EN rolls out to meet the rest of the world and we're a lot faster now image
