HIM start-tough two weeks

Hello, I have just finished Jan OS and this week is the first (starting in week 11 of HIM plan) for HIM training and it's a fairly big week for training. We Judy bought a house and are moving this week...next week I am travelling for work and don't see much opportunity to work out. Any recommendations on how to get through? It feels terrible to start off the training with almost a 2 week "break". I may be able to get a run or two in however no time for any of the 2 hr workouts...

Help?

  • ...correction, i am in week 12 of the plan.
  • Dawn - technically speaking most athletes will use the swim camp is a two-week break to recover from the out season before their push into the regular season plan. So you certainly have that opportunity here. The reason why you aren't taking advantage of it the proximity of your race date which forces the 12 weeks upon you.

In my mind there should really be no pressure here in these first two weeks anyway. All we're looking to do is really extend your time training to match what we have in the plan, and we do that by dropping intensity & keeping things pretty safe. Let's look at the other things you have to do (settle into the house, travel for work) as catalysts to make sure that you don't overdo your training, i.e., strive to reach your out season fitness when you're doing in season volume.
