W/O 4/14/14- 7 Weeks to Go!

Got the 2 x 1 mi Z4 done last night.  First TM run in a while.  ugh.  It SNOWED here (just a little) this morning.  Really?  70 this weekend then in the 20's last night?

I'll be doing "Spin n Run" at the gym tonight.  Something seemed wrong about loading the bike onto the car when there was snow on it this morning so I am opting for indoors.

  • I too did TM last night, also found it a drag but ...we got it done!

Also followed your footsteps with spin and TM tonight. Just glad I'm getting back on track this week. Good luck with your 120' run tomorrow!
  • My week is all mixed up but I'm getting the workouts in, just in a different order than the plan. Got my 2x1 TM in today. 1st mile no problem, but 2nd was perfectly timed where the trail was covered in ice, thanks to last night's final snow. Hit z3 but not z4, just too slippery. Hit the pool after to do Monday's swim speed workout. Felt pretty good. I'll take it. Back on track for the rest of the week starting tomorrow off with long run.
  • Great long run today! Fastest pace ever for a long run (over 8 miles) for me! Woooohhooo

10 miles at 10:42 avg pace. My Z1 is 11:20 and Z2 is 10:00 but my true HM pace is 10:59 (hilly course though). I don't think there is any way I could ever do Z2 for that distance. (My vdot is quite different for a 5k vs. HM) Super pleased with that though! Last mile was the fastest at 10:13 too. I stopped looking at my watch for the last couple miles because I had my hands tucked in my shirt since it was getting cold. Maybe that's a good idea!

    2 10:27.7 1.00 10:28

  • I am on a roll! Fastest swim pace for any swim over 2,000yds! My t-pace is 1:55 and today's RR swim was @ 1:58 pace. "Trick" shoulder felt good too.. Phew! Started out a little too fast but very pleased with the time, esp. given that I only swim 1/x week and this was only my 9th swim this season. Hoping to make it 3 for 3 tomorrow with a great bike RR!
  • Congrats Kim!   What a great feeling when the hard work in training starts to come together and you feel good and see results.  Awesome!
  • Nice work everyone!!

@ Kim- ROCK ON MY FRIEND!!!!

I did my long run yesterday...it went ok. I did the first 7 running to the a local trail, where I was going to meet my husband to do the rest of my run. I asked him to bring some water and a GU for me as I would fuel and continue on my way. He forgot...made for a rough run. lesson learned....bring my own fuel at all times ALWAYS. But I got it done. Lower back and shins were a little sore...maybe from some hills I did? Not sure but thats not a common occurrence. Rolling and stretching ALOT today to make sure I am good for tomorrow!!

RR swim this morning went well. Avg 1:35/100....1000 TT is 1:31/100. Felt good to be in the water. Really want to get some open water swimming in SOON! Will it EVER WARM UP?!?

  • Keep up the great work Quassy team!  You all are doing great (and keeping me motivated too)

Yesterday's long run was a success.  Hit all my targets for the 3 periods.  120 min totaling 13.64 miles.  Needed to roll out a few knots in my calves afterwards, but all is good.

And then there is today's swim that didn't happen.  I was halfway to the pool when I got a call asking if I could watch my niece for a few hours, so of course, I turned the car around.  Second time I actually got to the pool and it was PACKED!  All lanes full and people waiting so I (unhappily) decided I'd have to make up today's swim on Monday.  Not what I had planned, but sometimes you have to roll with the punches.

Looking forward to a nice LONG brick tomorrow.

To all you folks riding the Quassy course tomorrow - be safe, and have fun and  CRUSH those hills!!

  • Did a quick race rehersal report here...

Nice meeting all of you guys!
  • Kim, sorry to hear about your getting lost but it looks like you salvaged it fast.

Sounds like you all had a great and successful time. Congrats!

The reason I didn't come is because my new Garmin apparatus completely came off my bike. I couldn't get it back on and I knew without a bike computer I'd be blind out there. I was really bummed.
But I still managed to ride 45 miles and run 4 on an 8 mile course by my house. I just kept going back and forth until I completed 3 hours and then did a 50 min run. So, all was not lost.

Did my RR swim yesterday. 56:12. Just about where I expected to be. Need to work harder to get a little faster.

I hope to catch you all another time.
