Using Device Agent 2.0 for my 305 and Ergomo

My devices are as old as me. image  But when I download them via wko+ 3.0 I can't save them locally...the only option is to upload to TP.com...and to download them to my WKO I need a subscription (or so it seems). Can anyone confirm this?

  • Patrick,

I would avoid device manager altogether. If you can get your files on to your mac (i know you can do this with the 305, not sure about the Ergomo). You can move them to your PC partition and drag and drop them into WKO+. I covered this for the 310xt in a different thread.

    For the 305
You would need to bring your 305 files in to GTC then export the TXC file, move it to Parallels/VMware Fusion (drag an drop or shared folder). Then you can drag and drop the files right on to your WKO+ calendar.

For the Ergomo: ??? - what file formats does the native ergomo software export?

I can walk you through any of this via iChat screen sharing if you're interested.
  • Coach P,

You do have to have a subscription

  • I use device agent 2.0 with WKO 3.0 and do not have a subscription to training peaks. For supported devices you can use device agent 2.0 to download directly to WKO, TP Online, or save a file locally even without the subscription.

Last i checked the Forerunner 205/305 are still not supported, like Cary I just export the file form GTC and then drop it into WKO.
  • this is on my weekend list...thanks guys!
  • I'm now actually dragging and dropping a file from a mac finder window directly into WKO+ running on VMware Fusion, flawlessly.

This was done with VMWare Fusion 3 running on OS X 10.6, but it should work on a current version of Parallels as well.

  • Article today about DV3.0 compatible with 205/305 now. Don't know if that is what y'all are looking for or not...

  • @Scott - look at the date at the top of that blog post and let me know if you think it's for real image
  • @Cary and Scott ... it is for real. TP released a new version of the device agent on April 1st and it does work with my Garmin 305 to direct download. Faster and easier than using GTC.

The trick is you have to uninstall the current device agent and then install the new version, otherwise it doesn't work.
  • I can't seem to do it on my Parallels set up, tells me it can't create the directories, etc. I looked on TP.com and it said that file sharing / coherence needs to be turned off, so have done that and rebooted...waiting to see. Ugh....
  •  For your Ergomo I still DL into WKO+ TKO that shares the same workout directory of WKO+3.0 and it now shows up. For my 305 and 310 it needs to go into GTC and export....

I  am assuming this is why I don't see the 305 in the drop down menu of DA??? Need to delete older version?

  • @Gina, correct, uninstall it completely and then install the new version than it will work.

Cary- Do I have to have file sharing enabled across the Mac OS to Windows?

  • @gina, I did that without fileshareing enabled. It was default preferences.

When you drag and drop, you're not 'sharing' the file, you'e copying it from to environment to another.
  • Cary-

I am getting stuck in the file transfer. Here is what I am doing.

    1) Opening TP calender in WIN/VM Fusion

    2) Apple/Tab over to devices>Cyclops>history

    3) Under History my files read like this :  20100428_065813.bin( I think my file type is wrong, but not see a tcx file)

    4) Am not able to drag/drop here

Where am I messing this up?

    Thanks!

  • @gina - looks like a file format issue. i do not think that WKO+ will natively import/open the .bin files - you'll probably need to convert them to TCX somehow. Which unit do you have?

To check if you can do the drag and drop thing successfully, just see it you can do it with a JPG file from the OS X finder to the Windows Desktop. This will give you a copy of that JPG file on your windows desktop. Open the JPG in Windows to verify that it works.
  • Cary,

Head unit is a Joule 2.0.  I have figured out the drag/drop issue. Now just the file type.

    Gina

  • might have to bring in to power agent first then export as tcx - i'm going to look in to this
