W/O 4/21/14- 6 Weeks to Go!
Happy Monday all! I take Mondays off so no workouts for me! What is everyone else doing? How did everyone's race rehersal go? I posted a mini race rehersal report as well as started a thread about how to manage target IF and VI on a hilly course. Check them out.

I made up last week's swim RR yesterday and actually was quite pleased with my results. Longest non-stop pool swim to date. Total time: 42:57 with an avg pace of 1:56/100yd. My fast 1kTT pace was 1:55/100 so maybe I am actually getting the hang of this swimming thing.
Have to get motivated for today's run before another swim. My legs are tired, but I know I'll feel better after getting it done.
Super duper run tonight! Had to cut it short because of traffic so I was running against daylight. Got in 8 miles@ 10:24 pace. Last week's 10 mile run was 10:42 pace so nice improvement, and it felt pretty easy and very consistent pacing without really trying.

Anyway, crap-tastic weather yesterday but a damper on my plans to do the Quabbin Reservoir race. Glad I didn't though. My cousin said only half the peeps in his age group showed up and lots didn't finish due to hypothermia. (About 39 and raining. No thanks!) SO I did the "triple spin"... 3 spin classes back to back at LA Fitness. Nice 90 min massage last night. Left shoulder/upper back pretty "knotty" and today feels like I was beaten with a bat. I guess its gotta be done. Today I did 23 miles outside and felt really good. .80IF for about 90mins.
Now off to try to make myself look presentable for a wedding. I am really resentful of anything on the weekends that requires me to wear "real" clothes. Ugh
@Larry - fell on your head? For real? That's not good...hope it wasn't too bad!
I did my second outdoor ride of the season on Friday (the 1st being Quassy last week). I knocked out 52 miles over 3 hours. I have to say that the road conditions near my home are AWEFUL!! Quassy wasn't nearly as bad as it is near me and has made me want to stay on the trainer. I hit a pothole 2 miles from my house which jarred my whole body and launched two bottles from my bike. Also, lots of sand and debris all over. I've pushed workouts up a day now to facilitate my family situation so that my wife can get workouts in too. So after Friday bike, I did 2 hours abp ride on the trainer yesterday and a 1 hour swim today. I've stuck to the plan fairly well with the exception of missing a few swim workouts. I figure if something has to be missed, it should be a swim, right?
I'm getting nervous about where I am bike-wise for Placid. Hopefully next week when I jump to the full plan, the bike times will increase and I'll feel better. Also hope that the water temps in Quassy aren't FREEZING when we races since it's hasn't been exactly balmy here!
Hang in there folks...only a month or so to go!
Brad- yes the roads totally suck here too. And I've only been swimming 1x a week so I'm with you on missing swim workouts vs. others.
Weather looks awful here wed-fri so I'm prob going to move the long run to tues. stupid weather!!
Only one more week for me too before jumping over to the IM Plan.
Did some juggling last week to get stuff in with the rain we had predicted for the weekend. Saturday's bike ride I attempted on Friday. Only got in 2.5 hrs due to an extended delay changing flats, but at least I got that much which is more than I could say I would have done if I had tried to do it Saturday. It rained all day as predicted and I had a birthday party of 6 11 yr old girls for 24 hrs which didn't help things. Managed to get Friday's swim in early Sat AM before the 11 yr old gang showed up.
Did Sunday's bike with some friends and, on tired legs, it felt pretty good.
