Adam's Micro Thread

Hi Coach Patrick,

I'm on week 13 of the HIM plan at the moment, and I have a half marathon coming up on Sunday (my first!) I'm hoping to use it as a confidence booster for the HIM, but I'm not too worried about my pace during the race. With that in mind, what modifications should I make to my plan this week to ensure I have an OK race on Sunday? Thanks,

Adam

  • Adam! Great to hear from you. General adjustment for this week is normal training through Wednesday, then the replace the Thursday long run with the ABP bike session that you're going to miss this weekend. Anywhere between 60 and 80 minutes is good for you. Friday is swim only, then Saturday is an easy zone one bike for about 60 minutes. Then we light up the run on Sunday and look back at it with an easy Monday for next week.
  • Thanks Patrick, that was pretty close to what I had planned. Hoping I can light it up on Sunday! First race of the season, really looking forward to see how the hard work will pay off!
  • Nice! When in doubt, rest. You will also want to get in an easy 20 minute jog before the half marathon with a few pickups to get loose. It might take a few miles for you to get your legs to come around, so don't get impatient at the start.
