Evolving Season Plan

Hi Coach,

In my race survey for the year, I listed several other races as "B" and "C" races.  If I decided to go "all-in" and only have my "A" race as a part of the plan and just train through the other races, how much would that change my plan?  As my A race would be IMLT, I am considering that I might need to eliminate the training distractions of other races.  Do you think this would improve performance or potentially take away from it?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Justin

    Hi Justin,

Your schedule is fine. Those races aren't distractions. They are events on the calendar that give you short term goals and keep you working on making yourself faster vs training months and months for an Ironman. ^This^ is how we structure seasons around here, it works

  • That said, you may want to drop that Sprint in August. That weekend is a prime high volume opportunity
  • Thanks Coach.

And as it turns out, I will not be doing the sprint in August.  My cousin is getting married that weekend half-way across the country, so I am going to have to mangle my schedule anyway, but I am not doing that sprint image

    Thanks again for your help,

    Justin
